Demurrage and detention charges apply once free time on a container has elapsed. The tariff below sets out G LINE Shipping's applicable free days and daily rates by equipment type. All rates are in AED per container per day and are subject to revision.
Indicative rates shown for layout purposes only. Final figures to be confirmed by G LINE Shipping before publication.
Free time starts
For imports, from the date of discharge from the vessel. For exports, from the date the empty container is released for pick-up.
Charges accrue
Once free time ends, the applicable daily rate applies to every calendar day in the relevant slab, including weekends and public holidays.
Charges stop
For imports, when the empty container is gated in at the nominated depot. For exports, when the full container is gated in at the terminal.

Notes & Conditions
- All days are calendar days, including weekends and public holidays.
- Rates apply per container, per day, and are cumulative across slabs.
- Port storage is charged separately by the terminal operator and is not included above.
- Demurrage and detention are combined for import shipments; export shipments attract detention only.
- Special equipment, out-of-gauge and hazardous cargo may attract additional handling charges.
- Rates are exclusive of VAT where applicable.
- Rates are subject to revision without prior notice; the tariff current at the time of shipment applies.
- Extended free time may be agreed in advance on contract volumes — contact us before booking.

Frequently Asked Questions
Demurrage is charged while the container remains inside the port or terminal beyond free time. Detention is charged once the container has left the terminal and is held outside it beyond free time. In the UAE these are commonly combined into a single daily charge for imports.
